'Kids digs' could add value to a home
'Kids digs' could be a great way of adding value to a property,
according to the director of Custom Timber Build.
Richard Sharman noted that wooden chalets installed in a parent's
garden for grown-up children to live in may not suit everyone, but
are useful for those looking for a house with extra space.
"It's a very sensible way of being able to add value to your
property by putting structures up in your garden … I can't
give you a figure in terms of percentages but any improvement,
addition or alteration that adds value is going to be beneficial
and this sort of building certainly does that," he remarked.
Mr Sharman's comments follow a recent report in the Metro that
found some parents are opting to build £40,000 two-bedroom
cabins in their gardens for their children to live in.
With student debt rising and growing numbers of young people being
forced to stay at home while they attend university, this could be
the ideal solution to an over-crowded house.
