Number of houses for sale 'likely to rise over next few months'

There could be a large increase in the number of houses
for sale in the UK over the next few months, it has been
suggested.
Jeremy Leaf, spokesperson for the Royal Institution of Chartered
Surveyers (Rics), was speaking after the company's Housing Market
Survey, which was published today (July 13th), revealed that buyer
demand for properties fell in June.
This drop in the number of new consumer enquiries is the only time
there has been a decline since the end of 2008.
Mr Leaf said: "A shortage of stock has been one factor holding back

The increase in the number of properties to come onto the market
could have a positive impact on the industry, giving more choice
for prospective home buyers, Rics reported.
This comes after Mortgage Solutions announced that there was a 20
per cent drop in the number of mortgages taken out in
June.
